At 7 pm, wholesale power in 2025 cost on average 1.7 times what it cost at 3 am.1 And 6 pm is exactly when most people start charging at home.2

EV drivers regularly run into charging errors.3 Ampena checks beforehand how old the charger’s status report is. If it gets tight, Ampena replans.

UScale survey, September and October 2025, 1,599 drivers who charge publicly. At the same time, 85 % rate public charging satisfactory or better than expected.

Plan B is ready before you arrive.

If the charger fills up, Ampena recalculates: detour, waiting time, price. And tells you why in one sentence.

Example from the app: leaving Dresden, IONITY Dresdner Tor on the A4 was the cheapest stop. At 09:20 every charge point there is taken, about 15 min wait. The EnBW charging park at Klipphausen is 4 km further on, no detour; it costs €1.89 more (27 kWh, prices without a contract), but you charge right away. Arrival in Erfurt 11:53 instead of 12:10. At many chargers you start and pay for charging through Cariqa Connect.

  • Ampena checks first. The charger’s status and indicative price, before you set off.
  • You pay on Cariqa’s page. Cariqa handles payment, invoice and support.

More about Cariqa

Ampena charge point (app in German): SachsenEnergie, live via Cariqa, Stadtforum Dresden, 2 of 2 free, up to 50 kW, live via Cariqa 2 minutes ago, rapid charger with CCS. Charging about 70 minutes to 80 % from 35 %, cost about €17.55 for 35 kWh ad hoc via Cariqa, indicative. Buttons: Plan in, Route, Charge and pay with Cariqa. All details: recommended and Plan B both free, CCS 50 kW, €0.50 per kWh, source Cariqa Connect. Example with the values of a test query on 1 October 2026.

The tariff alone saves 1 %.

If the car charges straight away, a dynamic tariff gains you almost nothing.4 In the cheap hours you pay nearly a third less than on a fixed price. That is exactly what Ampena plans.

Fixed price? Then there is nothing to save. We tell you so, and Ampena plans around your departure only.

Soon, your roof becomes your charger.

At noon your car charges on power from your own roof, €0 from the grid. Later, in the evening, it powers your home and the grid. Tomorrow’s reserve stays in the battery.

Example day in June, 64 kWh battery: at midday 22 kWh of surplus from your own roof (12:10–15:40, soon), in the evening 25 kWh to your home and the grid (6–10 pm, later), until the reserve is reached.

Animation of an example day: at midday the battery rises from 55 to 89 percent with power from your own roof (soon). In the evening the car gives 25 kWh to your home and the grid (later) and stops at 50 percent, the reserve for tomorrow.

Example day in June: 8 kWp roof, 0.4 kW base load, 64 kWh battery (55 → 89 %). The car charges on surplus only (22 kWh from 12:10 to 15:40) and gives 25.2 kWh to home and grid in the evening until the 50 % reserve is reached. Illustration only, not your roof’s data. Solar comes first; home and grid as soon as cars and wallboxes support it.

Questions?

What does Ampena do differently?

Charging apps show chargers, utilities sell tariffs, manufacturers build wallboxes. Ampena plans across all of them: when, where and from what your car charges, to fit your day. Soon with roof, home and grid too.

What does Ampena take care of?

Searching, comparing, calculating, replanning. You say where you are going, or Ampena reads it from your calendar.

Do I need a wallbox?

No. Ampena plans with a wallbox, a wall socket or none at all, using the chargers along your routes.

Will I save money?

With a dynamic tariff, Section 14a module 3 or solar, usually yes, and Ampena shows you how much. On a fixed price every hour costs the same; then Ampena delivers punctuality instead of savings.

How do I pay on the road?

At many chargers through Cariqa Connect, without a charging card. You pay on Cariqa’s page; Cariqa handles payment and invoice.

Can I use my charging cards?

Yes. Add them in the app and Ampena works out the next stop with the cheapest one.

What happens to my data?

You decide what Ampena knows. Every permission stays off until you say yes, and you can take it back at any time. Plan, appointments and trips stay on the iPhone.

When can I use Ampena, and what does it cost?

We invite people in waves, iPhone first. Early access is free. What Ampena costs after that, we will say before launch.

Why I am building Ampena

I’m building Ampena because charging is still work. Planning, re-planning, paying: from now on, that’s Ampena’s job.
